After narrowly escaping a huge explosion from Robert Bolick in Game 1, the Bolts returned to their dominant defensive ways and eliminated the NLEX Road Warriors, 100-81, in Game 2 of their best-of-three quarterfinals in the 2024 PBA Philippine Cup at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Sunday, May 12.
Banchero had an all-around effort of 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists while Allein Maliksi and Cliff Hodge added 14 points apiece. Chris Newsome chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds while Raymond Almazan chalked up 10 points and 12 rebounds.Banchero also shone on the defensive end, being the main guy tasked to put a body on Bolick who had 48 points in the series opener.
Even with Bolick virtually silent in the last two quarters, NLEX kept itself within striking distance, only down by just six, 70-76, heading into the final frame.
