Barely two weeks from now, evacuees affected by the 2017 Marawi Siege will spend another Ramadan in temporary shelters and tents now made more excruciating by the enhanced community quarantine to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The government-led Task Force Bangon Marawi has not fulfilled its promise to bring the residents back to their homes at the embattled areas. Ramadan is Islam’s holy fasting month and over a billion Muslims around the globe are required to observe. It falls on the ninth month of the Hijrah, the Muslim calendar. It will either be on the 23rd or the 24th of April, depending on the sighting of the new moon.
