The City of Manila local government announced on Saturday, June 3, the launch of the "Manila Resilient Local Government Unit Program Orientation and Resilience 101 for the Barangays" atManila RLGUP is an initiative of the local government, the National Resilience Council , and the Department of the Interior and Local Government , to show a united front in promoting a "resilient and stronger" Manila.
"The Manila RLGUP is a significant step in the city's journey towards becoming a more resilient and sustainable metropolis. By nurturing local leaders and enhancing their knowledge and skills, the program seeks to create a Manila that can withstand and recover from any adversity," Manila DILG said.
City of Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna virtually graced the activity and reiterated her commitment to the safety and well-being of the Manilans. Sly Barrameda, executive director of the National Resilience Council, and John Visca, Manila DILG city director, also shared knowledge and tools that effectively help in responding to mitigating the impacts of disasters.
In line with the event, the participants signed a pledge of commitment called "Paninindigan para sa Isang Matatag na Maynila," which will serve as a symbol of commitment to building a resilient and sustainable community.Department of Science and Technology Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology ,
