MANILA, Philippines – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines announced on Tuesday morning that the Luzon and Visayas grids will be placed on yellow alert in the afternoon.At 8:30 a.m. on Monday, the NGCP made separate announcements on the yellow alerts on its Facebook page.The Luzon grid, which has 14,687 megawatts in available capacity and 13,507 MW of peak demand, is on yellow alert from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
'Three plants have been on forced outage since 2023, four between January and March 2024, and 11 power plants between April and May 2024; while six are running on derated capacities, for a total of 2,075.8 MW unavailable to the grid,' the NGCP explained.Meanwhile, the Visayas grid will be on yellow alert from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. It currently has 2,933 MW of available capacity and 2,614 MW of available demand.
