Tropical Storm Ineng has gained strength as it continued to move northwest.

In its 11 p.m. update, the weather bureau said Signal No. 1 was still up over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Northern Abra, and Ilocos Norte.

Forecasters said there will be light to moderate rains on Friday in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces, northern portions of Palawan , and the rest of Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley.The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Ineng will not hit land, but may intensify into a severe tropical storm in the next 12 to 24 hours.

Officials advised residents in affected areas against floods and landslides, and to coordinate with disaster officials.- MBCA Apekop Philippine Coast Guard Central Visayas spokesman Lt. Jr Grade Michael John Encina also said vessels headed to Samar and Leyte with a gross tonnage of 250 and below have also been temporarily suspended due to the effects of the storm.

'Ineng' was last spotted 585 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, and is now moving at a speed of 15 km per hour. It has maximum winds of up to 85 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 105 km/h.
