The 15-21 term-sharing agreement between current House Speaker, Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano and successor in waiting, Marinduque lone district Rep. Lord Allan Velasco doesn’t seem to hold much sway on other House members. This, as ACT-CIS Party-List Rep. Eric Go Yap and Anakalusugan Party-List Rep.

Under this plan, Cayetano will be the Speaker for the first 15 months, with Velasco taking over the reins for the final 21 months. If anything, the plan averted a free-for-all for the Speakership between the two and fellow aspirant Leyte 1st Rep. Martin Romualdez. However, having another round of voting down the road for the chamber’s top spot would mean that the term-sharing scheme wasn’t set in stone after all since it’s possible for Velasco to lose.
