Robredo is among over 30 respondents named by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group as respondents in a complaint it filed before the Department of Justice concerning the videos.
The DOJ has already formed a panel of prosecutors to conduct a preliminary investigation over the complaint to determine if there is probable cause to file charges in court. “Impeachment is a proceeding which is more of a political nature and thus it does not need a final conviction of a criminal offense. If betrayal of public trust is sufficiently shown, impeachment can proceed independently pending final judgment of the criminal case,” he explained.
“In support of its complaint, PNP CIDG submitted, among others, the sworn statement of Peter Joemel Advincula y De Leon in which he detailed his supposed meetings with the aforementioned personalities and how they planned what he referred to as ‘Project Sodoma’,” the DOJ spokesman Undersecretary Markk Perete earlier stated.
