Filipino arrested on child sex assault on church members in Canada

tv A Filipino in Canada is facing 22 charges after he allegedly lured at least three children from two Filipino churches over the past year, recording his sexual assaults on them and sharing them online.

The Toronto police on Thursday announced that 32-year-old William Christopher Claveria has been arrested and charged with 22 offenses, including making child pornography, sexual assault, sexual interference, distribution of child pornography, and voyeurism.

"We are alleging that after an analysis of some of the devices seized at Mr. Claveria’s residence, we have discovered images and video of Mr. Claveria sexually assaulting children," Bai said. Bai said the children were lured at two churches in 2018, Word and Life Christian Assembly and Jesus Reigns Forever International Ministry."The Filipino community – especially the church goers, they’re very trusting in nature and they welcomed him into their family,” Bai said.

"They are actually very devastated. They never thought that this could happen to them in their house, in a place worship and trust," Bai added. The Toronto police said this is still an ongoing investigation and appeal to anyone for more information. They can reach Toronto Police's child exploitation section at 416-808-8500.
