A surge in coronavirus disease 2019 cases may happen after the 2022 Elections due to the low booster vaccine coverage in the country, according to two experts.In a briefing on Saturday, OCTA Senior Research Fellow Dr. Guido David said in Filipino that an 'uptick' has been detected although this remains 'very low risk' and there was no need to cascade the information just yet.He warned, however, of the possible rise in cases because of the 'waning immunity'.

David said the country has always experienced a surge in cases every three months since the start of the pandemic, and that the cycle may happen in April or May due to lower immunity from variants like Omicron and its recombinant Omicron XE lineage.National Task Force against Covid-19 Special Adviser Dr.
