An elderly woman died inside a burning house in Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

BACOLOD CITY — Based on the initial investigation of the Bureau of Fire Protection - Kabankalan, the victim reportedly came home drunk that night and is believed to have fallen asleep.

The victim would usually drink every night, and has had an improvised lamp which she places from one place to another, the BFP said, quoting the statement from the victim’s neighbors. However, the BFP is still probing the cause of the blaze, which destroyed the victim’s house made of light materials.
