The Office of the President has issued Monday a copy of Executive Order 99, which creates the Yuletide Social Assistance Program."The yuletide season is an opportune time to establish such measures or programs for the economic empowerment of barangay officials and functionaries, in recognition of their valuable and meaningful service that effect genuine and positive change in their respective communities, consistent with the provisions of the Local Government Code," it read.
"The State values the significant contribution of the attainment of the objectives under the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022 through its unconditional and passionate service rendered to the community, despite the inherent limitations in resources, logistics, facilities and remuneration," it added.
Under EO 99, the Yuletide Social Assistance Program will be built for the"economic empowerment of barangay officials and functionaries." These include the barangay captain, barangay secretary, treasurer, barangay tanod, members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa, and other personnel.The Department of the Interior and Local Government and Department of Budget and Management will jointly issue guidelines in carrying out the order.
