Election watchdog National Citizens' Movement for Free Elections hits the postponement of local polls once more as barangay officials will now serve for a term of 5 years instead of 2.

Namfrel pointed out that by delaying the elections, lawmakers and the President were effectively extending the terms of elected officials without a fresh mandate from voters.
