FOSHAN, China —A heavily favored Serbian team pulled away in the second quarter to rout Angola, 105-59, in the first game of the 2019 FIBA World Cup here on Saturday afternoon.
Angola stayed within distance in the first quarter after making four of five 3-pointers, but Serbia sank six 3-pointers of its own to take a 29-20 lead after the opening frame. The Serbians continued to find their mark in the second period, with Nikola Jokic and Bogdan Bogdanovic both sinking triples to help Serbia pad its advantage.
Bogdanovic finished with 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting, while Jokic had 14 points and 6 assists. Serbia, as a team, shot a blistering 65% from the field, and made 13-of-20 attempts from behind the arc.
