AMID concerns by small and micro businesses on their capacity to pay, the Department of Labor and Employment said there will be no exemption from the mandatory provision of 13th month pay to employees.
"No request or application for exemption from payment of 13th month pay, or for deferment of the payment, thereof shall be accepted and allowed," said the DOLE. DOLE said the 13th month pay must amount to the total basic salary earned by an employee during the year divided by 12 months.It also reminded firms that they are required to submit a report of their compliance online through the DOLE Establishment Report System at reports.dole.gov.ph, not later than January 15 of the following year.
