DILG bans local officials traveling overseas amid COVID19 crisis

MANILA — The Department of the Interior and Local Government on Saturday said it is prohibiting local chief executives from travelling abroad as the country grapples with the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.

"For the time being, for the period of 30 days, we're temporarily banning foreign travels of our chief executives so that they can focus on their jobs and remain in their respective municipalities and province," Año said.The ban covers mayors, governors, and other key officials of a local government unit.

Meanwhile, cockfighting or "sabong" will also be suspended in compliance with the Palace memorandum that prohibits mass gathering.
