IN THE first half of June 2021, new coronavirus infections nationwide plateaued at an average of 6,500 per day as cases in the National Capital Region gradually declined while those in some areas in the Visayas and Mindanao increased sharply.

“Kailangan, habang hindi pa overwhelmed ang ilang areas natin sa Visayas and Mindanao, matuto na tayo from NCR Plus na ngayon pa lang, dapat ino-augment na natin ang aning health care capacities,” De Guzman said. There were 6,667 new recoveries, but the DOH also removed four duplicates and one case listed as recovery but was actually negative for the Covid-19 virus.As of June 15, total recoveries reached 1,246,405, or 93.9 percent of the total case count.The daily positivity rate on June 13 was high at 13.9 percent, or almost one in seven. Testing output was low at 30,472 as 16 laboratories failed to submit their data on June 13.

Nationwide, cases in the last two weeks increased by 15 percent. The average daily attack rate also increased slightly.
