The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has received more than 1 million applications for voter registration for the May 2022 polls since January this year.

“From January to March 13 total registrants 1, 092, 484 @COMELEC. Keep them coming, peeps, especially the 18 year olds,” Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said in her Twitter account on Thursday,March 18.

Based on the data posted by the poll official, Calabarzon has the highest number of applicants with 172,683 followed by the National Capital Region with 149,846, and Central Luzon with 104,669 applications. The Cordillera Administrative Region recorded the lowest number of applicants with 15,780 followed by Caraga with 32,330, and Mimaropa with 34,868 applicants.

Qualified voters may register at the Office of the Election Officer from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voter registration activities for the May 2022 polls started in Jan. 20, 2020 but was suspended on March 9, 2020 due to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
