The Commission on Elections announced that voter registration hours will be shortened while the satellite registration will be suspended temporarily due to the increasing number of coronavirus diseas

e cases nationwide.

“From March 22, 2021 until April 4, 2021, all offices of the Election Officer nationwide will accept applications for voter registration from Mondays to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The issuance of voter certification, however, will be until 5 p.m.” the poll body said in a statement on Saturday night, March 20.

“The conduct of satellite registration in barangay halls, day care centers, covered courts, and other satellite offices nationwide will likewise be suspended until further notice,” it added.“However, in case the local government unit concerned prescribes a disinfection day other than Friday, the OEO will also be closed to the public on such day, in addition to the Comelec-prescribed disinfection day,” the poll body said.

Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez reminded the public to strictly comply with the health protocols when going to Comelec offices. “Wearing of face mask and face shield is mandatory. To minimize physical contact, online accomplishment of the application form and setting of appointment via Previously, voter registration was conducted from Tuesday to Saturdays, including holidays from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. The voter registration period to participate in the May 2022 elections will be until Sept. 30, 2021.
