THERE is no Commission on Elections rule that hinders President Rodrigo Duterte from endorsing any political candidate, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said on Thursday, April 7, 2022.

“I think in the case of the President, it’s a question of his leadership kasi of his leadership style, I guess ayaw niya mag-endorse that is entirely up to him,” he added. DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said the uniformed personnel, including the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines , among others, are not allowed to endorse any candidate, as they are mandated to remain non-partisan while in the performance of their duties.
