The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) filed on Thursday tax evasion charges against nine business enterprises for alleged refusal to settle tax debts totaling to some P200 million incurred in 2014 and prior years.

In separate criminal complaints submitted to the Department of Justice, BIR prosecutors identified the respondents as Ama Insurance and Reinsurance Brokerage of Panay Avenue, Quezon City; Avella Lipata, proprietress of Jaram Hauling Services of Litex Road, QC; Tomasito Cruz, proprietor of TTC Construction of Tandang Sora, QC.

Provenlink Industrial Co. of Rosario, Pasig; Asiaconnect of Teresa, Rizal; Northstar.Ibex Construction of Rosario, Pasig; I.T. Citi Services of Kapitolyo, Pasig; Buensol Construction of Ortigas Center, Pasig; Philotimo Constructions of San Pascual, Batangas and Juanita Ilagan, proprietress of EJ Gasoline Service Station of San Pascual, Batangas.

The highest deficiency tax of almost P100 million was slapped against TTC Construction for taxable year 2011. The latest batch brought to 491 the number of tax evasion cases filed under the Run After Tax Evaders campaign by the administration of BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay.
