A person deprived of liberty was stabbed dead by a fellow inmate inside the maximum-security compound of the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City, the Bureau of Corrections said on Monday, Aug. 7.BuCor identified the dead PDL as Romelito Dural, 50 years old. It said the assailant was Mark Mengullo. The incident happened last Sunday, Aug. 6, it also said.
Based on initial report, BuCor said “the victim had a heated argument with Mengullo and during their altercation he admitted stabbing Dural.”It said that Mengullo immediately turned himself in, while, the improvised bladed weapon was recovered by BuCor personnel in a canal.“Mengullo claimed that he was being bullied by Dural for a long time and he could no longer take it and that was the reason why he took the matter into his own hand,” BuCor said.
