A former head of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Migrants and Itinerant People is offering prayers and masses to the two overseas Filipino workers who died in an accident in Singapore, Sunday.“We offer our prayers and holy masses for their eternal rest. We implore our good Lord to grant strength to those who whom they have left behind,” Balanga Bishop Ruperto Santos said in an interview.“Sadness and sorrows during this Yuletide season.
The prelate, who is a member of the International Catholic Migration Commission, expressed hope that justice will be served to the victims. “We appreciate the immediate help and assistance of our embassy staff, we appeal that justice is served and the guilty be lawfully prosecuted,” Santos said. The Department of Foreign Affairs said the two died after a car lost control and crashed into a group of Filipinos at Lucky Plaza mall in Singapore. The accident also left four other Filipinos injured.“Nakikiisa at nakikiramay po kami sa pamilya ng mga mahal nating OFW na nasawi sa Singapore kahapon. Tinutulungan po natin ang mga pamilya at ang mga sugatan na mga OFW na nasa ospital po ngayon ,” OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said in a Twitter post.
