Nearly 50,000 liters of oil waste from the sunken motor tanker (MT) Princess Empress have been collected so far by authorities, data from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) showed. ManilaBulletin

In the collated data of the environment department released on Saturday, March 25, it showed that a total of 47,712.26 liters of oil waste have been gathered from the provinces of Oriental Mindoro, Antique, and Batangas.

Earlier, the DENR and local communities have created oil spill booms made from organic materials, protecting marine ecosystems from the oil leaking from the sunken motor tanker. It noted that the oil spill booms they had built prevented the oil from harming nearby marine protected areas in the Western Visayas and MIMAROPA regions.
