The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) denounced Monday the remarks of exiled Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Jose Maria

“Joma” Sison, branding President Duterte as a “traitor” that could be easily removed from power and taken into custody by the Philippine military and police on the orders of the United States.Colonel Noel Detoyato, AFP public affairs chief, stressed that the Philippines was a sovereign country which does not take orders from other countries.

Sison recently criticized Duterte after the President dared the United States to “fire the first shot” and “declare a war” against China amid the rising tension in the disputed West Philippine Sea. However, Detoyato said the military had no plans of arresting nor staging a coup against Duterte since “he is our duly elected President and Commander-in-Chief.”

The official also dared the Netherlands-based Communist leader to “come back to the Philippines and face reality.”
