, Bulacan — New Year’s celebration in Bulacan was joyful, but for 30 firecracker-related mishaps in this province known for its fireworks industry.Governor Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado joined their constituents in the revelry, punctuated with prayers and wishes for less injuries in this year.
A week before the year ended, Governor Fernando ordered the Bulacan police and other concerned agencies to implement Republic Act 7183 and the Executive Order 28 of President Duterte concerning all manufacturers and sellers of fireworks products in Bulacan. However, despite of the concerted efforts of officials, 30 persons – 25 male and 5 female – became victims of firecrackers and were treated in various hospitals.
Liz Mungcal of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said the victims sustained abrasions and minor burns due to Kwitis, Fountain, Whistle bomb, Lusis, Five star, Piccolo and Pla-pla.
