The Yoruba self-determination group, Ilana Omo Oodua has begun the movement to secure the release of Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo who is currently detained at a prison in Benin Republic. Leader of Ilana Omo Oodua, Professor Banji Akintoye said the group will continue in its quest for self-determination and charged religious leaders to join the Yoruba group during rallies.
“That the conference held in Lagos by one Otunba Shade Olukoya was a bad taste and has no support and approval of the coalition; that we call all the leadership of Ilana Omo Oodua to expel Shade Olukoya with immediate effect.” But in a statement signed by its expanded executive members, Ilana Omo Oodua said the group was formed in August 2020 mainly by Professor Banji Akintoye and some of “his ideological children” to promote the peaceful agitation for the actualisation of Yoruba Nation.
