Yobe State government has earmarked N200m for the Social Equity Programme (SEP) in the health sector.

The SEP is targeted at pregnant women, children below five and accident victims. Announcing the new scheme at an healthcare sensitisation exercise for council chairmen at Damaturu, the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Muhammed Gana, said the health scheme was designed to offer free and quality healthcare services for the poor and vulnerable persons, with the goal of attaining the Universal Healthcare Coverage in the 17 local councils.

He, therefore, urged political leaders, philanthropists and wealthy individuals to key into the scheme. On the implementation of the scheme, the Director, Yobe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, Suleiman Dauda, said the beneficiaries would be biometrically captured in the 178 wards across the state.
