Ohanaeze Ndigbo, an apex Igbo social-cultural organisation, says the body is against violent agitation in any form because the group believes in the continued corporate existence of the country.

The group stated this at a news conference on Monday in Abakaliki as part of activities marking the 62 anniversary of Nigeria’s independence from British colonial rule and the 26 anniversary of the creation of Ebonyi State in Nigeria.

He said: “As the name implies, Ohanaeze Ndigbo is responsible for the protection of Ndigbo Worldwide. There’s no part of the world where you will not find an Igbo man or Igbo people. “We still want to be in Nigeria. We want a restructured Nigeria where social justice, fairness, equity and equality will reign supreme and we want a Nigeria where we will be treated not as second-class citizens.”

“We inspected nine gigantic projects and concluded that Umahi has performed beyond imagination and expectations. “We are appreciative of the governor’s empathy and sympathy for the less privileged and the strive to make life meaningful through the series of economic empowerment he gave to the youths,” the group said.

Professor Dike: Atiku Abubakar has no power to cede presidency to NdigboElder statesman, Professor Francis Dike (SAN) has said it is an insult and smacks of arrogance for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to say he will give the Igbo nation president after his tenure. Only party promise he can't even keep, so how can he keep national promise. Exactly. He is in a party that has messed up their zoning policy. If he wins why shouldn't the SW or NC feel it is their turn? Just tricking Igbos to get their votes

Ex-Imo Governor Ihedioha Has Chosen Path Of Slavery By Supporting PDP’s Atiku Abubakar In South-East – Ohanaeze Fumes | Sahara ReportersThe Ohanaeze Youths Council (OYC) has berated former Imo State governor and former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, over his alleged determination to betray Ndigbo in the forthcoming 2023 general elections. OYC said that Ndigbo would forgive him only if he would make a u-turn and return home to build his own land. A statement by the group's national President, Igboayaka O Igboayaka, which was made available to SaharaReporters, regretted why the former Imo Governor could choose to become a political betrayer. Ihedoha gesture is that of gargantuan aberration and mal-disposition. Many of the masses had a huge trust for him but he has reneged that. He seems to forget the influence of Peter Obi in the South East. Emeka your political career will end gradually! His free to vote who him likes but saying he chose slavery is absurd and as an igbo I condemn it. What I know is that the heat is too much and he will and I repeat will never smell any elective post in his home state

The group described it as just, equitable and fair. The apex Igbo body said it was ridiculous for the former Vice President to say that his presidency would be a stepping stone for an Igbo person to become the president of Nigeria. Things like this promote tribalism. That is why he will never be Nigeria President
