.UN calls for nutrition aid in Nigeria, says people risk resorting to survival sex, child labour | TheCable

In a statement on Thursday, Schmale said he visited El-Miskin internally displaced persons camp in Maiduguri, Borno state capital, and was alarmed by the impact that conflict was having on “vulnerable people, particularly children”.

“Women told me that they had not received food assistance in more than three months and they are struggling to feed their families. Some children described going for several days without eating enough. Mothers were telling me that their children go to bed crying from hunger. He decried the high rate of out-of-school children living in the IDP camp, calling for more effort to support the government in providing all children with access to education to secure a better future for them.
