The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi, has urged religious organisations all over the country to begin to speak against Female Genital Mutilation and other harmful cultural practices, especially against women.

The monarch said the campaign against total eradication of FGM should be intensified to discourage those still involved in it. “I declare my support for the total eradication of female genital mutilation; I advocate the protection of women and girls and the enforcement of laws and policies that protect them from this harmful practice.
