The Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has adjourned till October 4, 2021 the suit filed by the Nigerian Bar Association against the Federal Government.

Following the ban on the use of Twitter and the threat to prosecute users by the Federal Government on June 4, the Publicity Secretary of the NBA, Rapulu Nduka, explained that the overall constriction of the civic space by policies and directives of the Federal Government and its agencies caused the NBA to file the suit against the government.

The suit, which was filed on June 18, challenged the constitutionality and overall legality of the policies and directives of the Federal Government. The court papers in suit number FHC/L/CS/613/202 named the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari ; the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; and the Nigerian Communications Commission as the first to fourth defendants.Read Also
