The notion that beautiful and elegant fashion attires and accessories are achieved through styling ambiguity was proved wrong in the recently concluded 2023 African Magic Viewers Choice Awards held in Lagos, when a former Big Brother Naija housemate, Beauty Tukura, dressed in a simple but magnificent outfit emerged winner for Best Dressed Female, while Influencer Enioluwa Adeoluwa dressed in a simple three-piece brown-beaded suit won the award for Best Dressed Male.

This is an absolute affirmation to the fact that simplicity, which by the way bestows fashion symmetry, is the ultimate sophistication. Beyond the attire, the simplicity in Tukura’s banded hair, earrings, facial – makeup, bracelet, etc, blended naturally with both her skin colour and elevated her overall look. Adeoluwa wore a low haircut, simple bracelets and comfortable footwear that conformed to his clothing.

Viewers and observers of Tukura’s outfit for the awards could conclude that their designers did them justice, and they would be right. But more importantly, the stunning look came from their choice of style as they had the final say on how they wanted to appear at the event. If Tukura had wanted ambiguity as some of the other female celebrities did, perhaps she wouldn’t have shown up unmatched let alone emerging winner.

So, the next time you want to make an elegant entry and fashion statement to a top profile event or awards, think sophisticated simplicity!
