These followed the adoption of a motion by Senator Gershom Bassey who said poor funding and neglect of Nigerian roads had led to the abysmal state of federal roads.

The Senate on Tuesday called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on federal roads. It also urged the Ministry of Finance to release adequate funds to the Federal Road Maintenance Agency for emergency repairs on all federal roads in the country.
