Governor Nyesom Wike has congratulated Rivers United for emerging champions of the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League.
Rivers United were officially confirmed champions, following Plateau United’s 2-1 defeat at Akwa United on Saturday. The Rivers State Governor commended the players and coaching staff of the state-owned club on Sunday, following the memorable victory, which ended their five-year NPFL title wait. Wike’s felicitation was contained in a press statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, on Sunday.
The statement read, “I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation to the coaching staff and particularly the capable players of Rivers United for the valuable efforts they made to emerge the winner of the 2021/2022 NPFL.
