A combination of screenshots taken on February 2, 2022, captures the demolition process at the Lagos High Court in the Igbosere area of the state. The Lagos State government has begun to pull down the State High Court sitting in the Igbosere area, about 16 months after it was gutted by fire.
At one time, the premises housed the highest court in the country – the Supreme Court before it relocated to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory .In the ’60s, matters from the Lagos High Court would go to the Privy Council in England on appeal. Justice George Oguntade, Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivor, and other serving and retired justices who passed through Lagos State also sat in the court premises.
Just wondering if the managers of affairs in Nigeria have ever heard of any anything called national heritage. The building can be renovated and preserved
So sad. These historical monuments are being erased with finality. A very sad day for the legal community.
Instead of preservation, they're demolishing..This country and it's leaders,I tire for una..
Hum, what a Wonderful world
Aww! The building was touched during the endsars protest that snowballed into chaos
That’s why we don’t study history in this country. Something u should turn to a tourist or sight seeing sight. U destroy it Go to turkey u will see old land marks like the Noah’s ark , Home of Mary mother of Jesus Christ. They maintained all these things here 🤔🤔🤔
Why can't they maintain the building. This is another way to embazzle money.
The cancer call endsars is responsible.
Is it not possible to preserve it as a historical location of interest? Why is it being demolished?
