Okeke said this at the institution’s 2021 Technician Empowerment Programme ceremony held at the Onikan Youth Centre last Friday.
According to the team lead, “OPL Academy trains, upskills and connects technicians to job opportunities. We focus on soft skills because we believe that while some artisans already have the requisite technical skills, they most times lack the soft skills that could contribute to their productivity.” According to her, sponsors including, the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board , the African Capital Alliance Foundation and the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development have been of tremendous help to the success of the academy.
Executive Secretary, LASTVEB, Morounke Azeez, disclosed that the Lagos State government embraced technical and vocational education and that the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu is providing support to the various schools, especially as there is an increase in the number of vocational education trainees.
