A National Assembly candidate during the February 23, 2019 general election in Ogun state, Omoyele Olabode has escaped being assassinated when unidentified gunmen attacked him in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

Leadership Correspondent gathered that the gunmen, numbering about 20, invaded Olabode’s campaign office located at the Agbeloba axis of Abeokuta metropolis, beating up all his aides met on ground before heading towards his apartment where they shot their target. The politician, who recently decamped from ADC to the All Progressives Congress after the presidential election, however, sustained bullet wounds on the arms in the incident.Speaking with journalists yesterday in Abeokuta, the state capital through a telephone interview from the hospital where he is recuperating, Olabode said the matter had been reported at the Adigbe Divisional Police station.

When contacted, the Command’s Public Relations Officer , Abimbola Oyeyemi denied knowledge of such incident in Ogun state.
