The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested and detained a Bauchi Chief, Gung Zaar of Zaar Land, His Royal Majesty, Ishaku Komo. A police source told SaharaReporters on Thursday that Komo, a retired Air Commodore with the Nigerian Air Force was being detained at the Bauchi State Police Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department. However, he said it was for a yet-to-be-disclosed offence.

Komo's son Polycarp Irmiya, who confirmed the arrest and detention of his father, told SaharaReporters that he was invited on Wednesday by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Alhassan Aminu over a crisis that erupted in the Sang Community that was about a chieftaincy tussle. He said,"There was a crisis in one Community Sang in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The crisis erupted over a chieftaincy tussle which claimed the life of a 70-year-old man. On Wednesday, the CP invited him to come and get his side of the story only to be told that he's under detention."

"From the police source, the principal suspect never gave any information that indicted or showed that the traditional ruler had any hand in what happened."
