Nigeria gets 698,880 doses of AstraZeneca, second phase vaccination begins

Speaking at the commencement of the second phase of vaccination, the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Faisal Shuaib, appreciated the United States government for the donation while further explaining that the J&J doses would be targeted at people in hard-to-reach areas.

“In the next couple of weeks, we will be expecting up to 3.9 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines to complement what we already have and to ensure that we cover not only those who will be taking their second AstraZeneca vaccine but also for those who will want to take their first dose of this vaccine.”

“By January, 2022, the number of vaccines being released will be in excess of 25 million per month,” he explained.

In a country of over 150m persons hundreds of thousands of doses is meaningless, we need to spend our own cash and get more doses. Relying solely on donors calls our leadership to question.
