The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Anchor University, Lagos State, Prof. Johnson Fatokun, has been released by kidnappers.

In a message to our correspondent, Assistant Registrar Strategy and Communications, Anchor University, Mr Okesola Sanusi said, “DVC released! To the glory of God, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Anchor University, Prof J.O Fatokun has been released.”

However, when asked on the telephone if any ransom was paid, he said, “We shall make an official statement tomorrow . He was released this evening before 8pm and he is still in Nassarawa he will be in Lagos tomorrow.”He was said to be returning on Monday when his vehicle was attacked by the gunmen in Nasarawa.

A statement signed by Sanusi on Wednesday read, “The university, in partnership with the nation’s security agencies are currently working tirelessly to ensure his release within the shortest time possible. We have already established contact with him and wish to inform the public that he is in good spirit.”All rights reserved.
