Civil servants in Jigawa State have reportedly refused to return to work following the conclusion of the Eid holidays on Thursday.

DAILY POST reported that the Federal Government had earlier declared a two-day holiday for the festivities - Tuesday and Wednesday - but the crescent moon was not sighted on Monday, hence, the holiday was extended to Thursday. The aftermath of the Eid festivities has seen a significant number of civil servants failing to report back to their respective duties, This development has sparked concerns regarding the efficiency and productivity of government operations.

The Head of Service who stated this when he paid unscheduled visit to various MDAs at the State Secretariat to monitor resumption of workers after Eid-el-Fitr Sallah holiday. Alhaji Muhammad K Dagaceri, who visited offices at the State Secretariat noted that while some Civil Servants were in their offices ready for work many are yet to report to work after the three days Eid-el-Fitr Sallah celebration.
