The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, on Tuesday, formally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress after months of speculation and denial.
However, sources said the state’s deputy governor, Mahdi Aliyu, and the member representing Talata Mafara/Anka in the State House of Assembly, Kabiru Yahaya, have decided to remain in the opposition People Democratic Party .Some federal lawmakers from the state who are also members of the PDP had earlier announced their defection to the APC but it is not yet clear whether all the lawmakers joined the governor to the APC.
Defection: I hope this ends banditry and kidnapping in Zamfara... Time will tell. Two groups of Nigeria's biggest problem: 1. Politicians (lack of ideology), sponsors of crimes. 2. Ex-service men in military (Elder statesmanship, wanting to remain relevant at all cost)
Meaning & Confirmed the rumors APC lured him & he foolishly betrayed his own conscience.
With all that has been happening, if Nigerians haven't realized that PDP and APC are made of self serving criminals and still vote for them in 2023, then our mumu never do. The suffering will continue. Their priority is power and not leadership. KeepitOn
