A former Minister of Health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu, shares his thoughts on the raging coronavirus pandemic withYou were the former Minister of Health who coordinated the campaign against Ebola.

How do you assess the response of the government to the coronavirus pandemic since the first case in Nigeria was recorded?

There are reports that this virus was created while some are saying it was certain things that the Chinese consumed that caused it, what do you think could have caused it? People thought a cure or vaccine would not take this long, but it has already and none has been found so far. Do you think there’s any possibility that a vaccine or cure will be found soon?

Do you think there are many Nigerians already attacked by this virus than the number the NCDC is releasing? It appears many states are not prepared for this, do you think we might have a bigger problem on our hands? What do you think should be done to mitigate the effect of coronavirus on the looming shortage of drugs?

One of the cases so far recorded came through the land border. Do you think we are guarding our land borders very well? There is clamour for the President to address the nation on the issue of coronavirus. Do you think it truly has an import? In your view, why is it difficult for those who have had contacts with people with coronavirus to come out openly?

During his tenure what did he do

This roof is leaking..... *one of the people who put holes in the roof.

It is really disappointing hear this from you as a former health minister of the federal republic.Tell us what you did as a minister in respect of the upgrade of medical facilities

If this man had done what a proper minister ought to have done during his tenure, his successors would have a framework to improve on. Hindsight is always 20/20; perfect.

Is this achievement, we had 20 cases, 8 died, n u said he did well

The most worst health minister since inception of democracy in Nigeria, Sir let achievers commend n condemned Sir, not u, Prof just remain mute over health matters in Nigeria, Ekere si number won

But really the present administration seems bereft of ideas. They are like square pegs in round holes. But for the states trying to do something, the fedral seems aloof

Are people like this not supposed to be called together at this critical time if this government is serious?

Come and tutor them!

When he was health minister how many hospitals did he persuade the NGgovt to build?

Soon as you see a red cap on them, just be 95% sure trash would be spewed

That shouldn't be surprising. He didn't do much when he was in power too

Ori gboyin ati ex Health minister yen ti gbalè.

PLS him went he was given opportunity to self want did he put in place dey will come outside after living office start talking none sense. Govt is continuity. Let come out 2gether fight d common enemy COVID19

Oga what did you do to prepare for this kind of situation when you were in office? Let's hear word jare! 😏

What did he do to improve our healthcare system when he was a Minister?

How many hospitals or equipment did you bought as a minister? Please sit this one out

Failure has finally spoken

Abeg just shut up, u were also part of the problem

Lots of people in the comments asking what he did as health minister. Yall should find out who managed the Ebola pandemic so well that the country released her last patient long before other African countries managed theirs. USA sent people to Nigeria to get pointers. Keep up.

What have you done to assist.please play a role.

He should bring ideas and assist the little rather then condemning the efforts of others

He didn’t curb Ebola , he was used as a tool to divert a lot of funds from this country. Patriotism is joining others to get things done right. During the Ebola time, you had people around you who supported with all they got. Old soldier never die

During your time what did you do. You are all wicked and evil people. The progress we are having abroad is a fruit of foundational progress. Thieves.

Does he want to come back to office

Ex minister kindly refer patients to the standard hospitals or isolation centers you built as a minister! God bless you sir!

Sit tight critic. Suggest improvements

What impact did he make in the health sector when he was minister of health... He shouldn't make unnecessary noise now

Here we go 🤦🏾‍♂️

I thought you guys said we are ready for Corona Corona virus

Criticism when out of power is always convenient

He is part of the problem, how many standard isolation centres did he create?

What was your legacy

Dis man is facing corruption allegation & charges

What did he do when he was Health Minister? Ode oshi

Where is the one you built during ur tenure

Shut up

He was the hero during the time of Ebola. God bless you sir, he was a professor in health issues not like someone who read accounting and he's a minister of health

Ex minister what did u put in place during your time. Blamers at this last minute.

Ex-Minister What did he do when he was there apart from sharing the money in their usual way.

so they give them food?

Come again sir. What are you trying to say. That you've travelled to all or you had knowledge of the deplorable state of some of the medical facilities now or before hand?

As a Minister of Nigeria, how many hospitals were you able to put to any meaningful standard. Not even one. So shut up.

As a minister of health, what efforts did he make to fix dilapidated facilities or build and install new ones? ThisIsNotTheTimeForablameGame FocusOnRealIssues COVID19Nigeria StayHomeStaySafe

He is so proud of the one million unit of ventilator he bought as a minister. Hence, this effrontery!😬

Not disappointing at all. It was an emergency. N what states n d federal government r doing at d moment is commendable. U guys only see errors when u r out of office.

U r mad

They isolate even in toilets!

How many isolation centers did you build as a minister

This can people are the problem of our country . 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Nonsense they are all part of this mess, those isolation centers were not built today, what was his impact on them during his tenure.. See this country needs to be deleted and completely restarted, every single person who has been in power from 1960 cannot be exempted from the shit

he fought and defeated ebola

What did he do when he was there

This is why the next government must probe this OfficialAPCNg government. officialEFCC ICPC_PE notes

Why condemn? What are your inputs? All we do is blame. Haba!

was struggling to get him say something negative about Buhari, he disappointed them.

What did this guy do when he was there?

What would he have done better... You are a soap bubble

A very good kind of news toilet paper will gladly like to carry. U can't win.

Former stupid minister

What facilities and improvements did he build when he was health minister? He should please keep quiet if he's got nothing sensible to say

This guy tried ooo...he was d minister of health during Ebola outbreak

Buchyogba where are the isolation centers built during the ebola period

Loud it. I know the bad Belle ones will say it's because you are no longer in charge. CoronaUpdate

Didn't he say Doctors should become tailors?

Which of the centres sir?! And don't forget that the case is emergency worldwide

I think we should focus on what the present health minister is doing rather than take us back in history to discuss what the past health minister did when he was in office. We should look closely to see what they are using the billions of donations rolling in.

What did you do during your tenure to improve them? Failures.

Na Sunday be dis, make diz ex respect himself

Abeg when this man was health minister what did he do. Almost never heard of him as health minister.

ayemojubar Once they leave the office, they parade themselves as saints. What are your legacies as ex-Health minister.

When una refuse to do am nko bekos una can fly abroad Our hospitals sef pass disappointment, na disappointmental. Na only Lagos State hospital beta pass

What did the man as health minister? Nothing! Esi ewu

What did you do during your time?

All of u pple are the same. Stop talking

Some people don’t have shame. You were a Health Min, did absolutely nada to improve the hospitals and somehow, have the morals to condemn those who as expected, have followed your footstep.

Govt is open to ideas and suggestions, come forward and be constructive in your contributions Sir.

Birds of the same Fedder,as a former minister of health what have u done during ur own time,

This mam should come out and tell Nigerians how he left the Health facilities across the country before he departed office. He should also tell us what he did during his time in office

Mumu wetin him do,no e ex minister him be

He was health Minister, during his tenure what did he achieve It's funny how Politicians leave office and wanna come out to play the critic card, when they were a part of the problem.

How many hospitals did GEJonathan and you as his health minister built?

How did the ex-Minister prepare for this kind of situation when he was in office?

He was our Ebola hero

you are just irresponsible in your reporting. Why do you ask the opinion of a ex health Minister who didn’t do the right thing when he had the opportunity. Now I understand why Aso Rock took you off their list. Shame on you

Was he talking about Enugu
