The Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State on Friday approved a special insurance package of N3.125m to 25 indigent students of the institution.
The Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Dosu Malomo, who inaugurated the insurance scheme as approved by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, said each of the 25 students would get N125,000. Malomo said that the insurance scheme, billed to take care of the benefitting students’ tuition and others attached with the insurance scheme, was introduced as “a special policy to cater for students who suddenly lose their parents or guardian responsible for funding their education.”Malomo said that students who fell into the category of beneficiaries “will on submission of relevant documents, be screened for the claims of about N125,000 each.
