The Lagos State Government will on December 1, 2020, kick-off a research project with 1,140 indigent pregnant women.

According to a statement on Thursday, the project, which is under the state Mother Infant and Child programme, is an initiative of the Office of Civic Engagement.

The statement added that MICH was aimed at supporting the development of responsible citizens from the womb through to infancy, childhood, youth and adulthood.The Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Aderemi Adebowale, noted that the research project was the second phase and a follow-up to the initial plot.

She said the phase was to assess the “impact of the MICH food supplements on the pregnant participants with full monitoring of their existing conditions, along with their unborn children, throughout pregnancy till delivery and post-partum.” “This phase, tagged the research phase, will include independent case studies and research involving 1,140 pregnant women with a follow-up and monitoring of diverse medical and social indices starting from December 1, 2020, till the next six months,” she added.All rights reserved. My heart goes out to any pregnant woman putting herself up as a lab rat for a gov that’s surely unreliable and untrustworthy. Yes it’s great for science but I can’t trust such a sensitive research in the hands of this gov knowing how well they will end up cutting corners.
