Former Rangers and Scotland star Ally McCoist has said Leeds is right to sack their manager Javi Gracia and appoint Sam Allardyce as his replacement.

Gracia was sacked as Leeds boss on Monday with Allardyce returning to management again after years of absence.

“Sam’s got a very good history in that area of the league and doing jobs with keeping clubs up,” he said. “Are they right to do it? They might be. Because they’re in free fall – shipping in all sorts of goals by the way – it’s ridiculous. Describing Allardyce’s appointment as “a heck of a gamble,” he noted that the former Bolton Wanderers and West Brom boss would help the team, who, according to him, “look as though they’re in a bit of a free fall.”
