It’s heartbreaking to see some house owners in dwellings in the Ifo Local Government Area undergoing suffering as a result of the release of water from Oyam Dam in Ogun State. Many of the residents have been unable to behold the submerging of houses and cars. Eavesdropper saw some cars floating and those in the neighbourhood appearing helpless.
They should also obey the warning by the Lagos State Government that those living close to the banks of the Ogun River should be on the alert as more water would be released from the Oyan Dam. The government didn’t mince word when it firmly noted that about 23 million cubic metres of water would be released in October. The impact of the flooding has no doubt affected many of the residents. It’s however vital for them to carefully navigate the current situation to come out strong.
