CSOs task Buhari on implementing NDDC forensic reports | The Guardian Nigeria News - Nigeria and World News

The Coalition of Niger Delta Civil Society Organizations ( CNDCSO ) has raised concern over President Muhammadu Buhari’s delay in implementing the forensic audit report on Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC ).

Director, Centre for Human Right & Anti-Corruption Initiative, Jude Ojiugo-Onochie, who conveyed the meeting, urged the President to act fast and order discrete investigation into the abandoned projects, which runs into billions of naira.He said, “We, the coalition of Niger Delta Civil Society Organizations identify with your anti-corruption policy through which you vowed, when you took the mantle of leadership of Nigeria, to combat corruption.

“In a bid to keep to this vow, you have taken many bold steps, which include inauguration of an audit committee in August 2019, to carry out forensic audit on the NDDC from its inception to date.“The Committee had submitted its final report of the forensic audit after two years of feverish investigation and we have followed with kin interest the drama and events that took place while the Committee carried out its assignment and we have vowed that we will not fold our hands and watch the report swept under the carpet.

“Therefore, we urge you, Mr. President to authorise the publication of all the details of the over 13,000 abandoned projects, the names contractors involved, and the amount approved and amount released to contractors.” Read more: The Guardian Nigeria »
