President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the appointment of Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem as Acting President of the Court of Appeal for another three months.

A statement from the State House by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said the appointment took effect from June 3, 2020. “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Hon. Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem as the Acting President of the Court of Appeal with effect from June 3, 2020, for a further period of three months.

“This is pursuant to Section 238 and of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 ”, the statement said.

My Lord, Justice Dongban- Mensem is the most senior Justice of the Court of Appeal and should naturally fill the position of its presidency. She ought to be permanented as the substantive PCA subject to the confirmation of the National Assembly.
