Leader of the umbrella body of Yoruba Self-Determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua (IOO), Prof. Banji Akintoye, yesterday, said the group would not support or root for any candidate in the 2023 presidential election.

There has been a report that Akintoye has been rooting for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress , Senator Bola Tinubu.

Media Assistant to Akintoye, Mr. Maxwell Adeleye, who spoke with The Guardian, debunked the report, saying that what the group wants is an independent Yoruba Nation. He said: “As far as we are concerned, there is nothing like that. The story that Baba Akintoye is supporting Tinubu is not true. All we want is Yoruba Nation.”
